World Education Day: SHERLOCK Launched its New Learning Programmes

On World Education Day, we are reminded that education is a powerful driver of sustainable development, innovation, andinclusive growth. At SHERLOCK, this belief translates into action through learning programmes designed to respond to real-world challenges and futureskills needs.

SHERLOCK celebrates the launch of three new educational programmes designed to supportEurope’s transition towards more energy-efficient and sustainable buildings.

The first programme is a Micro-Master for engineers and technical experts working in the building, retrofitting, and energy sectors. The second is a Micro-Master tailored to financial experts, aiming to strengthen their understanding of technical requirements in thesefields and enable informed, future-oriented investment decisions. The third programme targets vocational education and training (VET) trainers, offering a shorter online course focused on upskilling educators working in thesame sectors.

All three programmes have been co-created with students and professionals, who actively contributed through online surveys and focus groups conducted in seven different countries. This participatory process helped identify key topics of interest, existing skillsgaps, and structural barriers in the retrofitting sector—skills that areessential to meet international sustainability goals and reduce the energyconsumption of buildings.

This valuable input directly informed thedesign of the programmes, ensuring they respond to real needs and practical challenges. Today, these learning opportunities are available to students, professionals, and trainers via the SHERLOCK education page.

By placing learners and practitioners at the centre ofeducational design, SHERLOCK demonstrates how co-created education can accelerate the green transition. On this World Education Day, we invite alllearners, educators, and professionals to explore these programmes and becomepart of the solution for a more sustainable built environment.
